Biography

The Austria-born soprano Anita Giovanna Rosati studied at Vienna’s University of Music and the Performing Arts, where she studied under Kammersängerin Edith Lienbacher. In that period Rosati made her debut as Barbarina/»Le nozze di Figaro« at the Schönbrunn Palace Theatre in Vienna in 2013, gleaning early experience of the stage. She has appeared in the chorus of the Vienna Volksoper in performances of Millöcker’s Der Bettelstudent at the Mörbisch Lake Festival and also as Zerlina/»Don Giovanni« and Papagena/»Die Zauberflöte« at the Schönbrunn Palace Theatre. Furthermore she sang Sophie/»Werther« in the annual university production and in addition her role debut as Sophie Scholl/»Weiße Rose« by Zimmermann.

During the 2015/16 season, she was a member of the Thuringian Opera Studio and in the course of the season appeared at the Weimar National Theatre as Papagena and as Findus in Niclas Ramdohr’s children’s opera »Pettersson und Findus und der Hahn im Korb«. Guest appearances also took her to the Erfurt Theatre as Minerva/»Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria« and as the Dew Fairy in »Hänsel und Gretel«.
As a participant in the 2017 Salzburger Festspiele Young Singers Project, Anita played the role of Madame Herz in »The Impresario«.
Her debut at Theater an der Wien took place in Oktober 2018 where she performed as Jemmy in »Guillaume Tell« by G. Rossini directed by Diego Matheuz and Thorsten Fischer as staging director.
In 2019 she was awarded a MA with Honours by Vienna’s University of Music for her master’s degree in Lied and Oratorio with Kammersängerin Gabriele Fontana and Edith Lienbacher.
A further production brought the young singer to the Bregenzer Festspiele where she sang in B. Langs »Der Reigen« with the Neue Oper Wien for which she was nominated for the Austrian Music Theater Prize in 2020 in the category “Best Female Supporting Role”.

In 2020 she performed at the Philharmonie Luxembourg and again at the Theater an der Wien on top of that she was awarded a special prize in the Final of the Cesti competition in Innsbruck. In summer 2020 she sang the role of Eurydice in Offenbach’s »Orpheus in the Underworld« with “Oper rund um” in Waidhofen / Ybbs. She also sang in the Great Hall of the Wiener Konzerthaus in the »Mass in D major op.86« by A. Dvorak under the musical direction of Heinz Ferlesch. As part of the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music 2021, the soprano interpreted the role of Dorillo in the opera »Idalma« by Bernardo Pasquini under the musical direction of Alessandro De Marchi.

The upcoming season (2021/22) will bring new, exciting roles such as L’amour in Gluck’s three-act opera »Orphée et Eurydice«. The opening night will be in October at the Vienna Chamber Opera.
